Daisaku Ikeda, third president of the Soka Gakkai and international leader for peace culture and education for all, based on Nichiren Buddhism, often referred to his private lessons with his mentor Josei Toda (second President of the Soka Gakkai) as “Toda University.”
Josei Toda taught Ikeda a broad range of subjects including history, literature, philosophy, economics, science, and organisation theory, as well as his profound understanding of Nichiren Buddhism. This influenced Ikeda greatly.
Daisaku Ikeda went on to encourage millions of people around the globe to be the best versions of themselves based on the philosophy of the inherent dignity of all life.
Toda University is not a physical place, it is a graphic representation of the brilliant education that Toda gave Ikeda and Ikeda gave to all he inspired. It is a symbol of acknowledgement and gratitude to all who follow in this path.
